Our Dark Navy Heavy Hopsack Suit is made from a fine basket weave and is one of our most robust iterations of a classical navy suit. We’ve presented this suit in our business preset, with natural shoulders and a modern fit, to showcase how elegant our navy hopsack can be. If you wish to make this suit your new best friend for the office, consider having it made with a half lining, instead of a full lining, that way the suit becomes more breathable. Remember that you’re free to design this suit exactly as you like.
Hopsack is a light and loose type of basket weave. Often times it is woven out of an ever so slightly uneven yarn, this creates a loser structure in the cloth. This particular cloth weighs in at 340 g/m2 and is made from 100% wool by Vitale Barberis Canonico. Even though it is a lightweight cloth it drapes beautifully, and is robust, making it suitable for prolonged wear.
This suit sits perfectly in the intersection between subtle and formal, which makes it a perfect suit for the office. Styling it for the office is painfully simple, navy pairs wonderfully with most shirt and tie colours. This hopsack in particular absorbs light, which makes it less bold, and this is why we recommend it for the office, rather than e.g. a wedding where you would want a suit that immediately draws attention. Another quality of the this suit is that it can easily be styled as separates. Pair the jacket with a clean white tee and a pair of good jeans, or wear the trousers with an informal shirt like our kashco, for a more casual outfit. Shoe wise this suit goes well with both brown or black leather shoes, and if you want to tone down on the formality opt for suede.

This special fabric comes from the Italian textile mill Vitale Barberis Canonico. The Barberis Canonico family has been producing fabrics since 1663, maintaining traditions and adapting early to industrious trends such as electrification at the beginning of the 20th century. This commitment to craftsmanship is apparent in their fabrics, such as this luxurious basket weave, which is a modern, practical and beautiful iteration of what wool can be.
