Behind the look: The Winter Power Suit

 

When Florence’s summer heat gives way to winter’s chill, staying warm without sacrificing style becomes essential. To ensure both elegance and comfort, MOND collaborated with our dear friend Giorgio Giangiulio to craft a sophisticated winter look, featuring some of the finest Italian fabrics.

Giorgio wanted a full ensemble for the winter Pitti, so we made him a beautiful grey chalk stripe suit from the renowned fabric mill and brand Loro Piana, complemented by a charcoal coat from Fortex.

The result turned out just as one could have wished!

The fabrics

The Suit from Loro Piana.

Giorgio Giangiullio selected a striking grey chalk-striped fabric from Loro Piana, made from the luxurious Bunch 765 – Wool & Cashmere Flannels. This refined blend perfectly balances wool and soft cashmere, providing both comfort and warmth.

He styled the suit classically, opting for a crisp white shirt and a sleek tie. The immaculate fit and clean lines of the chalk stripes highlight the suit’s sophistication, making it an excellent choice for any professional setting. With this ensemble, Giorgio proves once again that style and tradition truly go hand in hand.

Charcoal Grey Overcoat from Fortex.

To create a timeless and minimalistic look for Giorgio, we agreed on adding a plain charcoal grey overcoat, as the chalk-striped suit already commands attention. The Charcoal Wool Blend Overcoat, weighing 570g and extending below the knee, provided a beautiful, timeless, and practical finish to his look. A remarkable fabric at its price point!

 

Styling

The styling for this combination was kept fairly simple, aiming for a classic and timeless look with minimal colours. A great approach is to pair a double-breasted overcoat with a single-breasted suit for added effect and a layered look. The overcoat’s double-breasted design, flapped pockets, and dark buttons bring an added formality, giving Giorgio a striking appearance.
