Pitti Uomo Style Report
Sprezzatura is an Italian term that embodies a cultivated nonchalance, where one achieves a certain effortless elegance and understated sophistication Carrying oneself with a relaxed and unforced grace.. Originating from the Renaissance, it was first articulated by Baldassare Castiglione in his 1528 book “The Book of the Courtier.”
This is the word possibly describes the vibe at Pitti Uomo the best. Pitti Uomo is one of the most prominent and influential menswear trade shows in the world. Held biannually in Florence, Italy, Pitti Uomo showcases the latest trends, styles, and innovations in men’s fashion, attracting designers, brands, buyers, and fashion enthusiasts from around the globe.
Pitti Uomo is known for setting trends in menswear, with many styles and innovations debuting at the event before gaining global popularity as well as for its street style, where attendees showcase their personal fashion flair, often setting new trends and inspiring fashion enthusiasts worldwide.
This year like many other, the Mond team travelled to Florence and once again we bring you a travel diary and a style inspiration guide where we will share stylish ladies and gentlemen we met at the fair or at one of the many events during the Pitti Uomo week.
Here are the notable trends we spotted.
Relaxed summer styling
Lots of linen
Denim Shirts
Another notable trend we spotted at Pitti Uomo were denim shirts. Attendees embraced denim shirts for their versatility and timeless appeal, pairing them with everything from tailored suits to relaxed trousers. This trend showcases how denim, traditionally seen as a casual fabric, can also be elevated to fit more refined and polished looks.
Neutral colors
Shades of Brown:
There is no surprise here. Every summer we always see a lot of neutral and earthy tones like beige, camel, brown etc. These colors are a summer staple and they offer versatility and understated elegance. This year it seems like brown made a big comeback to the streets of Florence with a lot of gentlemen going for different shades of brown, from warmer to cooler and deeper shades in fabrics like linen primarily, light frescos or solaro.
White:
Another classic choice for summer, offering a crisp and timeless look, is white. At Pitti Uomo, we saw many gentlemen sporting white suits or white dinner jackets, adding a fresh and sophisticated touch to their outfits. These neutral colors not only provide a solid foundation for any wardrobe but also allow for easy mixing and matching, making them ideal for creating a variety of stylish and elegant summer looks.
Pops of color
Blues and Greens: Various shades of blue and green were popular. The classic navy blue in the form of blazers matched with white trousers was seen, as well as brighter blues and lighter pastels. One of the more popular variations of green was khaki. Soft and wearable, it adds color yet it remains quite subdued.
Pastels: Pastel shades, including light pinks and soft yellows, made an appearance, bringing a light and airy feel suitable for the warmer months. Bright pops of color were also seen in suiting, shirts, and accessories, adding a touch of playfulness perfect for more casual or semi-formal settings.
Warm Rusty Browns and Oranges: These colors added depth and richness to the summer palette, offering a warm and inviting alternative to more conventional summer hues.
Separates
At Pitti Uomo 106, separates were a standout trend, with many attendees embracing mixing and matching different pieces from their wardrobes. A classic choice for summer separates is definitely white or light-colored trousers. They provide a great foundation, making it easy to match with a variety of jackets. Separates are also a great way to break up suits and style them in new outfits. This approach not only highlights individual style but also promotes practicality and flexibility, allowing for a variety of outfit combinations.
Patterns
Another micro trend we spotted this year was the use of patterns for both suits and jackets. The gentlemen of Pitti embraced a variety of patterns, with checks, houndstooth, and pinstripes being particularly prominent. These patterns added a dynamic and visually striking element to classic suiting, allowing for greater expression of personal style.
Seersucker
This fabric made a notable appearance, valued for its puckered texture which keeps the fabric away from the skin, promoting airflow and comfort in hot weather. Both seersucker suits and shirts are a classic choice for keeping cool during the warm summer months.
